I'm looking at some of the newer bonded boat tail bullets for
my 30-06 in 180gr, that will perform both on cxp 2&3 game.
The partition is definitely a very reliable round, but wanted
the higher B.C. of .527 that the xp3 offers, along with the
ability to expand quickly on deer but keep together and
penetrate on moose and elk, while using one bullet.

Any experience and comments, Earl.

In my experience, I didn't think the xp3 was very accurate in my rifle. I shoot a weatherby 300 win mag and was completely disappointed with groupings. I switched to hornady heavy mags and haven't looked back.

while i suspect the xp3 will perform well for you, i am certain the 180 partition will, as that bullet has been killing stuff, very effectively, since 1948. unless your shooting stuff at over 400 yards, in the wind, i don't see any advantage in a higher bc. i suggest you shoot the bullet that is most accurate in your rifle. and the partition "made its bones" on tough animals like elk. good luck with whatever bullet you select.

Don't know if this will help but I ended up loading the 160g XP3 in my floated and bedded Ruger M77 Mk2. 7mm rem mag.

The gun was super accurate with Win loaded ballistic silvertips but I needed a tougher bullet for elk. I tried the Rem loaded 150 scirocco and the Win loaded 150 nosler e-tip and accuracy was not good enough for me at 250 yards.

Bought a box of the 160 XP3 loads and I now have a 2 inch grouper at 250 yards with a premium bullet.
