Just saying voting for a guy because he's never been divorced as a qualification is odd. Course everyone has their quirks.

Agreed, that would be questionable logic for voting for someone.

So which party do you vote for and are you happy with how the supreme Court rules? If you are happy, or you are not, which party do you think is responsible for nominating the bulk of the justices for about 56 years or so?

I can't answer for Scott, but as far as I'm concerned, the Republicans did a pretty good job with respect to nominating the more "conservative" leaning justices currently sitting on the Supreme Court.

"Six of the current justices of the court were appointed by Republican Presidents, while three were appointed by Democratic Presidents. It is popularly accepted that Chief Justice Roberts and Justices Scalia, Thomas, and Alito compose the Court's conservative wing. Justices Stevens, Ginsburg, and Breyer are generally thought of as the Court's more liberal wing.[20] Justice Anthony Kennedy, generally considered a conservative who "occasionally vote[s] with the liberals",[21] is most likely to be the swing vote that determines the outcome of close cases.[22]"

My prediction is that Obama's first appointee.........Sotomayor will join the other three liberals on the Court, but the makeup of the Court will still favor the conservatives by a 5/4 margin until Kennedy retires (he's in his 70's).

If Obama gets 8 years, he'll probably get the opportunity to appoint a replacement for both Kennedy and Ginsburg and this will create a 5/4 liberal leaning Court.

This will be a disaster for Constutionalists for years to come and any resemblance to the document that was originally drawn up by our forefathers in 1787 will be virtually eliminated.

I also expect that many of the more favorable rulings handed down by the conservative leaning court in recent years will be reviewed again and reversed in favor of a more liberal approach .........including Heller.

And any chance for a reversal of Roe vs Wade will be doomed forever.

As it has been said here many times......."elections have consequences" and the eventual makeup of the SCOTUS is perhaps the most important one when it comes to the future well being of our families and children.

You should be very proud of yourself Jeff_O (short for Obama), you probably did more harm to the country with your Obama vote in the last election than any terrorist bomb could ever do!

And personally I will NEVER let you forget it!!!

So the republicans managed to appoint 4 out of 9 you like with only 3 (D) nominees in place. Since there have been no 3rd parties in, who did the other 2 justices? And that is just the tip of the iceberg considering how long bad rulings have been going on.

I'm not forgetting or forgiving JeffO or you.

Well, I see math is not your strongest suit...........but I'll play along for awhile.

Kennedy (the swing vote on the Court) was appointed by Regan.

That makes 6 Republican appointed Justices on the current Court.

Stevens (one of the more liberal leaning Justices on the Court) was appointed by Gerald Ford who was a Republican, but as it it turns out, not "the sharpest knife in the drawer!"

Ginsburg, Bryer and Sotomayor were appointed by Dems........

Six Republican nominees minus one turncoat (Stevens) equals five Conservatives.

Three Democratic appointees plus one turncoat (Stevens) equals four Liberals.

Hence a 5/4 Court..........

Got it now????

Also, WTF does "I'm not forgetting or forgiving JeffO or you." mean?

Please explain.

Still 6 out of 9, but allowing you to make the excuse you still have a 5/4 majority so everything shouldn't be as it is according to your claims.

As for the "4":

"It is popularly accepted that Chief Justice Roberts and Justices Scalia, Thomas, and Alito compose the Court's conservative wing."

I didn't know you liked Kennedy just as well as these 4 and I am well aware that Stevens was appointed by Ford. I wondered what excuse you would make for the 2 not played up as favorably, hence the red question above.

You aren't going to let JeffO forget what he did so no one should let either of slide on what you both support.
