Bug Deflectors? There's no doubt that they work. They've been around since the early 50's or maybe before as a sheet of polished aluminum or stainless steel on the big rigs. I've used them on most of my P/U's with great success, but the question is, are they really necessary on the new aerodynamically styled trucks of today? They're advertised as everything from hood protectors, rock-guards, to rain deflectors. They've been made from everything from metal strips or plastic, to molded lexan and impact resistant acrylics. They've been painted with slogans, and words of wisdom, to threats for the person up front to get out of the way (grin) when viewed from the rear-view mirror. They've even come so far as to have molded in graphics, such as the American Flag. But the question is are they any longer of any use, or have they become just another form of Tijuana style dress up?
