I will be needing tires for my 2001 Chevy Silverado. I have had good luck with Dayton Timberlands. Since I am in Georgia now it may be more beneficial to look at tires that wear well.....althouth I got 25,000 miles from the Daytons. I want an LT tire BTW. As always I want to find the best for the least. Any suggestions???

Try the Yokohama Geolander A/T or the Toyo Open Country A/T, they are not the cheapest but not the most expensive by any means. I've seen the Yoko's go 50,000 on hard working ranch trucks down here.

No offense but I wouldn't consider a tire that only lasted 25,000 miles to be anything even remotely resembling 'good' unless it was a really aggressive mud terrain, which only 25,000 miles would be expected from.

Cooper Discoverer ATR's. On my second set, have 60,000 on them, should get another 10,000. First set wore almost as well. When these wear out, I'll buy another set, should last longer than my 1/2ton GMC, which now has 165,000 miles on it.

BFG All-Terrain would be my choice if not, then Mud Terrain.

I would go with Bridgeston Duller Revos, or BFG All-Terrains.

Both wear well, and should last if you take the proper maintence.

Then just buy the absolute cheapest tire you can find.
The easiest way for me to remember when to rotate tires is whenever the odometer rolls over mileage in even 5,000 mile increments, rotate them. Same with oil changes.

I put a set of General Grabber HTS on my Yukon XL about 5 months ago. I have been very please with them, very quiet, nice ride. Basically a all-season sort of tread. I have not had them off road in any really deep stuff, but on dirt/sand they have done fine so far. They were quite a bit cheaper than some of other brands that I looked at in that size as well. I think I paid about $515 installed for 4.

I run hancook dynapro and have been very pleased with them. I run the mud terrain over 90% oil lease roads and get 28-30k out of them.

Cheesy is right. I got 33,000 on my ATR's and they still look new. ATR is the best looking tire IMO also.

I just bought a set of Cooper ATR's Friday. After doing a lot of research I felt they were the best tire for the money. The fact that they have a $75 rebate going until the end of October was the clencher for me. www.coopertire.com

I just bought 4 ProComp XTreme A/T for my Jeep Cherokee. It sometimes a DD and used for whatever I want to do or go. So far I really like the directional AT tread pattern. They are quiet on the highway, or at least I think so. Had them in some light sticky mud today and they balled up like any tire does at low speed, but they didn't slip. Use of the go pedal cleans them right out. ProComp was running a fall special of buy 3 get the 4th free. I paid 420 bucks mounted and balanced in 31-10.50-15 and they are 6 ply rated. So far I'm real happy with them.

Put BFG All-Terrain on my F250 4x4 today. I was expecting a noisy ride on the highway but they are actually very smooth and quiet. Went with LT265-75R-16.

This tire was rated #1 by Consumer Reports for an all-season light truck/SUV tire and its sibling, the Continental CrossContact LX was rated #2. (The Kumho Road Venture APT KL51 was a very close #3.)

Consumer Reports also rated the following all-terrain tires as 1, 2, 3 in that category: Pirelli Scorpion ATR, Yokohama Geolandar A/T-S, and Bridgestone Dueler A/T Revo.

Rich: Another vote for the Revos. Have also recently used Kelly Safari Trek and they seem to be ok, but not Revos.

Just ordered some Michelin 275-65/18 LTX MS for my Tundra. The only tire I'll ever run. Love them. Once I wear out my factory tires and need to replace them, I just order a set of LTX MS. Great tire. Wears good, quiet, and has enough bite to get me around with the kind of driving I do. One tough tire.

I have an 01 GMC that I put 285/75/16 BFG's on about 15,000 miles ago and I very happy with them. There the next size up from stock and do ride a bit rougher but are awesome on the road, nice and quiet too.

Last set I had went 75K IIRC, but I do stay on the rotation

What's the reason behind that tall of a chimney on that building?
