Was cruising the glass-n-gun store the other day (Outdoorsmans in Phoenix) and made the mistake of looking through some items. I've come to the painful conclusion that I just have to have a spotting scope and just don't want to wait until I can afford the Euro's.

So I tried out a Minox 60 mm. Then I noticed a 60 MM Nikon Fieldscope and asked to try it. I was pleased with the ergonomics, the warranty, and the view. I took these outside and glassed a mountain about 2 miles away. I liked them much more than the Minox, but the guy said the Minox were much better with a different eyepiece, which he did not have.

Then I checked out the price -- $299.95. Huh? Turns out somebody had traded up to Swaros. Yeah, I looked hard and found a few use marks. Then I put 'em on layaway.

Somebody tell me I done good? I can't see beating that for less than almost a grand...

I'm a big fan of Nikon binos, less so of their riflescopes. Have never use one of their spotters, but I would suggest you just made yourself a fine deal...

I have a pair of Nikon 10X50 binoculars that have served me very well. The only thing I would change on them would be some type of "click" adjustment on the eye piece focus adjustment. The friction adjustment has a bad habbit of moving all the time.

After seeing this post I did some checking around and the 60mm Fieldscope III is being discontinued in my wholesale catalog, there is a great deal to be had on the 60mm ED glass scope. It appears to have been replaced with the Fieldscope 82mm ED. I don`t know if the 82mm is worth $250.00 more, any suggestions?
