The doc told me that my knee wasn't likely to get any better...I sat out hunting season last year because of it. Don't want that to happen again this year.

A friend has the smallest model Mule and is pleased with it. I thought I was going to buy one yesterday but two things happened:

1) It's about 6" too long to fit in the back of my Toyota Tacoma...the rear tires would be hanging off the tailgate by that much. I have a trailer so that's not a total deal breaker...but

2) I really found the salesman annoying so I left to think about it some more.

I live in the Blue Ridge Mountains so every place I hunt is pretty steep. My friend says he researched it and believes the small model Mule is less likely to roll over than several other models...

Suggestions for other 2 seater 4x4 ATVs?

Thanks

Polaris Razr is quite a bit smaller than a full size UTV (Mule, Rhino, etc), but they're expensive ($12K and up) and not really a good utility vehicle, in my opinion.

They're also a PITA to get in and out of, at least for an old goat like me.

I have enough aches and pains that getting into and off of... is a prime concideration as well... The guy I know that has the Mule paid $6700 plus tax for his...

If I bypass the pushy sales guy and ask for the owner I think I could get it at that price.

Go look at a few more. Get in and out of them and see how it feels.

Are you dead against an ATV.

I have a really bad knee...don't think a regular style ATV would work out very well at this stage of my life...

Maybe you should consider finding the old Bombardier, or John Deere ATVs with the step-through feature. Just a thought.

Check out a used Yamaha Rhino..paid $7500 for my '07 660 with very low hours/miles and loaded to the nuts with accessories...including plow/winch/aftermarket tires & wheels......The hauling capacity with the Rhino is amazing...of course they will roll...you can roll a long bed 2500HD Chevy if you try....

After watching my buddy use his Razr to haul out 2 moose and camping gear, i'd go with that setup. One thing I would do to it though would be to add a 2 inch lift, those things do not have much ground clearance. You can customize them to the 9's or leave it stock. They are smaller than most utv's and are pretty easy on gas too. If I had the money i'd own one myself but we both own atv's and the wife said she's not selling hers to buy a Razr so we use atv's for now.

If I was going to buy a Polaris....that would be it. I do like those a lot.

I believe you can ride them on the trails in WI too, but I'm not 100% on that.

I always considered the Razr more of a fun machine than a utility rig until this fall. It's not much wider than a 4 wheeler, is very compact and flat out goes. With a 2" lift, some good aftermarket tires, winch, a rack for the top, windshield and beefier shocks would make this damn near the perfect hunting rig.
My buddy shot a 54" bull moose and I followed him back to where he killed it on my atv, man was that beast big. We got him cut up and put everything less 1 front shoulder on his Razr, the other front shoulder went on my Foreman. Couldn't believe how easy it was for him to get out of there and back to camp loaded as he was.

There are darn few trails in so. Idaho elk country where you can take anything that doesn't have 4-legged drive. Any of these would be pretty much limited to the roads. Even where they're legal, the mtns are too steep, the trails too narrow, and the rocks too big to go very far.

Yes the Razr will fit on most ATV trails...with stock tires/wheels....ATV cattle gaurd crossings are built right @ 50" on Utah's National Forests...Rhino's are 54" w/stock tires/wheels..National Forest roads are open to all vehicles in Utah...For my use the Rhino fits my needs...11" of ground clearance...plenty of power...Yamaha reliablity...plenty of cargo space....loads of fun too...Open BLM trails are less restictive as far as width in Utah..
