Last year my 12 year old, 11 then, killed her first deer. It was a nice doe with a perfect 168 yard shot with her 260. I was so proud I couldn't stand it.

This year we went to the same spot. Saturday we saw tons of does but none came in range except a couple of muley does which she cant shoot. (Whitetailed 3pt or better or antlerless, or muley pt or better). Anyways we hoped sunday would be more productive. We got to our spot at sunup and the deer were not moving at all. We didn't see anything till 8-8:30 we heard a shot behind us. All of the sudden a small buck came charging by. He actually stopped which I couldn't believe and offered a broadside 138 yard shot. Em hit the buck perfect. Took out both legs(low) and hit the top of the heart and one lung. That little 260 with 100 grain partitions is a deer killing machine!! I loved it so much I bought myself one. Anyways here's her buck. Thanks for letting me brag.

Oh I got one too. But I'm way prouder of my girl.

Congrats to you both!!!

I agree, the .260 is as good as it gets for deer hunting.
My wife killed her first deer with a Kimber .260. We call it the "Death Ray" now...

Excellent!! I so hope that my oldest daughter goes hunting with me next year! She'll be almost 12 next rifle season. Your pics inspire me--they are awesome!

Mr. Yotechaser;
Thanks for sharing the story and photos of your daughters first buck with us.

Please pass along congratulations to her on a job well done on a fine animal.

As well, Id like to send you a tip of the hat for taking your time and energy to teach our next generation what we all love so much. It is so important that we do that, so well done sir!

Thanks again,
Dwayne

Be proud, man. Two nice deer. My 11yr old granddaughter used a Sav 99 in .243 with open sights through youth season. Next year it will be a scoped 99 in .250Sav. She turned down shooting at a nice doe, waiting for some horns. She can still hunt regular season and the extra doe season. Her 10yr old cousin shot the 9 point that we had been watching. He was using a BLR in .243. I have a trailer mounted blind that we leave in the field and sit in. Sometimes she hunted with me and my wife, sometimes with her parents. I think that it is a much better experience for her than the Mall. I hunted with my father for over 50yrs. I wish the same for you and yours. Good luck.
