I own 7 Marlins, and all of them cost under $500 each. My 1966 336 RC in 35 Remington cost me $88 when I bought it new. My most expensive is an 1894C that I bought in February of this year for $485.00 Nope, I'm not gonna spend $13,000 on a rifle.

I have a few Marlins too. I just picked up a 336-A rifle in .32 Special. Can't wait to try it out on deer. 336-As and SCs are my favorites. I like the .35 Remington caliber too because it's a sure deer slayer.

I got a couple .41 Marlins Limited from Davidsons that cost me some money ... but I wouldn't want to buy one of those (above pics) for any amount of money even for a small fraction of what they're asking.
I don't like that 'I-don't-know-what' configurated Kilimanjaro stock on any Lever Rifle.
Otherwise, it is kinda purty ...

Today I met a Marlin 336 that I could definitely love. It's a buddy's rifle in .35 Remington. He had a 4X14 Bushnell on it which I removed and installed a 2X7. Cleaned up the bore a bit and then boresighted it. Fired a few shots to get it closer to the bull, then moved the target out to 100 yds. Once it was dialed in, I fired a 3 shot group using Hornady's 200gr. Leverevolution ammo. DANG! Those 3 shots measured 7/8"!
I know that one group doesn't necessarily prove it'll keep doing that, but this was in gusty, rainy conditions. (I was inside my shooting shack, firing through the open window) Thats better than my bolt action Model 7 will shoot with my handloads.
Yep! I think I might love that Marlin.
4 out of 5 Great Lakes prefer Michigan.

Dang! 13k for a rifle much less a marlin? That is flat out retarded! My trucklet and car didn't cost that.
I guess there is a sucker born somewhere that has more $$ than sense.
BTW, I only hunt with Marlin rifles. My $130 1969 336 is just fine and so is my 1894ss at $450.
Dang I say...

I only own 2 Marlins - a 336C in 30-30 and an 1895CB in 45-70. Won't be trading or selling either one of them. For me, they have performed flawlessly. The 336 was about $275 in '93 and the 1895 was $600 in '03, both brand new and all taxes and fees included. I have spent a bunch more dollars for lesser guns that didn't perform as well.
Someday I hope to be the person my dogs think I am . . . The only true cost of having a dog is its death. Someone once said "a nation of sheep will beget a government of wolves." Shiloh Sharps . . . there is no substitute. NRA Endowment Member
