To start with the guy does not believe in the least in the free market! In other words he does not believe in what America was built upon and what gave its citizens the highest standard of living.

The best thing is yet to come, not only he agrees with Mao Zedong - he calls him Mao, just like an old pal -, but listen to what he agrees about : "Political power comes largely from the barrel of a gun". In other words : if you do not agree with the views of Barack Hussein Obama and of his political friends, you will be forced to abide under the menace of a gun.

Once again, BHO and his team are perfectly clear about their intentions : they want to take absolute control, under the threat of arms if necessary.

Defending the 2nd Amendment was never more important.

There was NO mistake in hiring these marxists, and NO failure to check their back grounds.

"God gave us communists so we would have something worthwhile to kill."

I like the way you think, ET!

"When it comes right dow to it, we could get rid of 50% of the federal govt tomorrow and about 90% of the population wouldn't even notice the difference."

Not right away, anyway. Wouldn't take long though, to notice there's a lot more money available to get things done. Their taxes would decrease, their freedoms increase, state governments would mostly leave them alone in peace, education system would actually begin to educate again, etc, etc. The standard of life for all would increase so drammatically that they'd not be able to not notice.

It'd only take a year or two, too. This country would be on its feet and growing again in no time. A dream come true. The American dream....

You'd just have to get rid of the part that does nothing. If you left it to government to choose they'd get rid of the half that worked just to hurt you. Look at the parts of goobermint they cut when times are bad the part that effects us most.

apparently Mao provided lots of quotable quotes...that many have used on all sides.

McCain has repeatedly quoted "the words of Chairman Mao," stating of his presidential campaign, "[I]t's always darkest before it's totally black," during a July 2007 conference call with bloggers, an April 2008 appearance on The Late Show with David Letterman, and on several other occasions.

A May 1995 Roll Call profile of then-Speaker of the House and current Fox News contributor Newt Gingrich reported that Gingrich said the House and Senate are "arenas for conflict" where "we sublimate civil war to bring people together." Roll Call further reported, "Gingrich even quoted a political leader not previously known to be one of his influences. 'War is politics with blood; politics is war without blood,' said the Speaker, citing the late Chinese Communist leader Mao Tse-tung."

A 1992 Seattle Times article reported that Republican strategist and former Christian Coalition director Ralph Reed said in an "interview with The Phoenix Gazette" that "Mao Tse-Tung said politics is war without bloodshed. Clearly, there are some metaphors that sit nicely with politics."

In his December 26, 2008, Wall Street Journal column, Rove wrote that he and President Bush "recommended volumes to each other (for example, he encouraged me to read a Mao biography; I suggested a book on Reconstruction's unhappy end.)

In his 1964 essay, "The Paranoid Style in American Politics," Richard Hofstadter wrote that Stephen C. Shadegg, adviser to Sen. Barry Goldwater during his senatorial and presidential campaigns, approvingly cited Mao and quoted him, saying that he "followed the advice of Mao" while working for Goldwater and in his other campaign work. In its obituary of Shadegg, The New York Times described him as "a political campaign manager who was regarded as the alter ego of Senator Barry Goldwater in the Senator's unsuccessful quest for the Presidency in 1964

Glenn Beck on Barry Goldwater:

"Barry Goldwater was a defining figure in American public life, a firebrand politician associated with an optimistic brand of conservatism. In an era in which American conservatism has lost his way, his legacy is more important than ever."

Quotes of Mao do not all have the same meaning nor the same weight !

Some are meaningless, like the one chosen by McCain :
Quote

For God sake, how can one be stupid enough to make such quotes? This is another time where McCain should have held his breath...

Others are very telling and deadly serious, like the one which started this thread.

It is one thing to quote someone or read a biography of someone who has effected the world as we know it today, and quite another to express admiration for them as a favorite philosopher they often turn to. Particulary when that person is a mass murder and pedophile.

That you would not address that distinction and posted only regarding the quotes, minimizes your opinion to the realm of deception. How are things at Moveon?

We may know the time Ben Carson lied, but does anyone know the time Hillary Clinton told the truth?

agreed. Mao was a pedophile? You must know him better than I do...by a long shot.

I wasn't expressing an opinion other than Mao has been quoted frequently, and this is much ado about very little. If you want my opinion, I think she's not too bright, and should have asked someone with half a brain to edit her "talk" before she went out in public.

Have no clue how things are at Moveon. How'r things at the Birch Society?

A much easier question to answer is "Who on this administration is NOT a communist?", and one can include the Czars in that group.

Mao had an endless stream of young virgin girls brought to his bed. He particularly liked the prepubescent ones. Research it and see for yourself.
