Need some help on mounting a scope on factory drilled 99 series A saddle gun. I have an available Nikon 3X9-40 matted Nikoplex (1"). Would a Williams Quick Convertible 99-A scope mount be correct/advisable? If so, now to mount. The 3 screws that come with that kit seem small, or are the factory placed screws long enough to do this? What would be the correct rings? Those offset quick release Williams would seem to be right but my only scoped rifle is an old Steyr Mannlicker 270 with an old Redfield scope, so I don't have much experience with them. Thanks, John

Weaver 2-piece bases, #14 & #19.
Warne Maxima 1" rings.
My 99C in 250-3000, a rebarreled 243, uses those bases and rings with a Nikon ProStaff 3-9x40. Very solid and the Warne Maxima rings don't have any exposed screws to catch on anything. Degrease the screws and screw holes with alcohol, dry them, and a dab of blue Lock-Tite will keep everything where you want it for a long time.

The Williams mount is problematic because of the extreme distance between the rings. It takes a long body scope if it has an objective bell on it.
Offset rings are used with the side mount Williams. If you have a top mount for the Savage 99 it would use standard rings.
Nothing wrong with Weavers.

Thanks all. Weavers it is. Do the proper screws come with the Weaver bases? I haven't removed the factory screws on the rifle so don't know whether they are sufficient to mount the base, or if screws must be ordered separately. I have gunsmiths tools, but don't wish to mess with the screws until necessary.
