Wild chicken soup sounds good. Let me know what I can bring.

I am out of order until further notice. My "stupid people" filter needs cleaning and my "give a damn" batteries have run out.

this is so true.

runs with scissors & I tried to take on a mature bull grouse about a week & a half ago with .22 long rifle & a .22 mag.

the .22 mag was using 40 gr fmj flat nose & the long rifle was 34 gr cci stingers.

We shot him 8 times before he charged us. Then while he had us treed we got 5 more slugs in him & that was it, we were out of ammo.

lucky for us a rabbit caught his attention & he went after that which gave us time to get down out of the tree & head for the truck.

I don't know what we were thinking. but Ill never take less that about a .308 for mature bull grouse in the future.

Know what you mean about them Grouse, Dave. I shot one twice with a 410 last fall. Damm thing just looked at me with that WTF look and flew off. I'm possitive the DNR has planted a new strain of grouse with kevlar feathers. frown

bring the roll of tp with cuz if they're watching you in the dark they'll leap on you. I've seen them with frog like legs and can leap the tallest trees out there in the forest if need be. I even seen some with finger like claws coming out the wings for grabbing big guys while they're flying!

This was back a few pages, but I cannot let it slide. Here is a quote from ND:

"There is a little propane torch in there by the woodpile inside for lighting the stove too."

A torch? ND uses a torch to light the stove? A TORCH? OHMYGOSH. cry I really thought he would have used two sticks or a handmade bow or at least a flint and steel. Of all the gurlyman gimmicks, ND uses a torch. eek Man, does this take a chunk out of the Paul Bunyanesque stature of the man. Next we will find out he is again wearing Pam's und.....nah, I hope not.

In all seriousness, we have went the way of the flint and steel. Something about a campfire is just a little more cool when you start it that way. We havent used a match, lighter or TORCH in over 2 years. A hint: use your Leatherman instead of a knife as the steel. the pliers work the best.
