Sittin here with the lucky Orange hat on is unusual for me weeks before our season. Yet I'm feeling Good about the coming season and hunting and feeling the need to be lucky and to send some luck to those of other camps.
Good Luck to all you guys and gals here and Congrats to The BangFlopKid and Mrs.ND, oh I guess Dave to for chasing rabbits with a stick and bottle sounds fun Congrats Dave you made a new game for me now.
Hey Hey now Tommy Boy, I haven't made it back to the other thread but here is one down the hatch for your friend. Sorry for your loss Tom he sounded like a heck of a guy and I'm betting he would be thinking something like this right bout now.. Tommy stop playing with your treestand thingy or whatever that is, down the hatch with that beer, sleep well, wake and drive north, then go wack a Big Ole Buck...
Don't forget guys and gals it goes.. Boom double shot, Boom Boom I like Big Bucks and they will go down.. LOL Good Luck to all...

Thanks Wabo. Wow, miss a night, miss a lot. We have dave tapping out a rabbit, we have bang flop scoring AGAIN on a nice buck, we have Wabo donning lucky caps.... I bought a new lucky orange had too. It has High Life on one side, and High Life Light on the other. Maybe it'll help me get lucky, or score, or..errr...it's gotta be your bull, schit. Anyway, I heard it's amost deers season, you guys hear anthing about that?

hey now that you mention it, it is almost deer season. I almost forgot, haha yeah right! I was dreaming of deer last night, my son woke up crying and interrupted me dreaming about seating depths on my 300 wondering if I could tighten the group up a little if.....then the crying started. brought me back to reality. it doesn't help that I have deer pictures all over my bedroom, makes a guy dream too much I'm off to scheels to buy my treestand this morning!

Well here is wishing everyone the best of luck on a good deer season in 09. I will reiterate some things I am sure you know, but it is always nice to keep them fresh:
Safety. Guns, slips, trips, and falls, and knife safety are important. Take the extra second. Especially with knives. Enjoy the hunt. Hunting is about having fun, enjoying nature. Dont become too focused on antler size or downing an animal. Enjoy the small details.a rub, a track, flying bear scat with little bells in it, etc.
Take lots of pictures. Only 3 things will last a long time from this season. Your memories (although they too will fade), any photos you take, and a set of horns if so lucky.
I am saving the last bit of "good luck" for the kids. Sounds like there will be a fair amount of kids representing this thread out in the woods. I hope they have great experiences and catch the deer hunting bug for a lifetime.
Straight shootin!
Cole Update: He tolerated his last round of chemo pretty good! Although i am worried a bit about his mother, she is sounding pretty depressed on Caringbridge. She had a talk with the doctors about long term prognosis and apparently it didnt go that well, but I dont have details. Talked to Cole's dad yesterday and he was in good spirits.
What you do today is important, you are trading a day in the rest of your life for it.

Tzone, I forgot to mention, I checked on Sunday & your block by your ground blind is completely gone.
ground is tore up where the rain has leached minerals down into the dirt.
wouldn't hurt to pour a can of salt there & let it wash in too.

you guys can't use salt on those chickenbucks. you need protein-beans are the ticket!! open the auger next to the stand and let'em' buck! although salt does get em coming. buck jam is good too. pretty tasty stuff in the morning.
