I just purchased another Sako A7 in 25-06. I'm starting to suffer from terminal "low fundsa" and was thinking of mounting a Bushnell 4200 3-9 on it. The scope seems clear. Anyone have any experience with this line of scope? What's your opinion?

I had a 2.5-10x40 4200. It was very bright and quite clear, but the critical and non-critical eye relief were not what I expected in a hunting scope. I sold it and went back to 3.5-10x40 Leupolds.

I have that exact scope and I think it is probably the best bargain there is in higher quality scopes.
I find the eye relief to be more than adequate and my 4200 is light years ahead of my older Vari-XII in every area.
Check out opticstalk.com and read how highly these scopes are thought of there.
I'd say go for it.

Yep, I was a diehard Leupold guy until I bought my first B&L 4000 back in the mid 90's. Bought 5 more afterwards. Eye relief for me has not been an issue at all.

Good scope but go on Ebay and you can find an as new better scope for the same money. No worries especially if its a Leupold given their unique guarantee.

You could also get more scope for the money by not buying a variable. A good 6X is the perfect 25-06 scope for big game and larger (Yotes) varmints.

I have a Bushie 6500 4-30x50 mil dot on my Sweet 16 223 and it's a nice scope and I got a good deal when Microsoft had that rebate deal last year. It now retails for about a grand and it's not 1/2 the scope my 2 grand 4-16x50 Schmidt and Bender is on my DPMS LR.

"The man with the $500 rifle, the $1000 scope and the $2000 binocs is the smart one."

How is the vaunted (and rightly so) Leupold warranty any better than the 4200's warranty.
Lifetime, transferable, and no warranty card required. Sounds exactly the same as the Leupold to me.

A scope of the 4200's quality selling for $250 is indeed a screaming bargain.

I've got a 3X9 4200 on 300 win mag, one of the stainless Hawkeyes, and I almost replaced it because of the eye relief. I switched over to a B&C stock and better recoil pad, and the eye relief problem went away. I don't think you will have any problem at all with a 25-06. At $250, they are as good or better than any deal you are likely to run across. If you feel you must have better eye relief, look at the Sightron Big Skys. They are another scope with good quality and great optics for a good price, but not as good a price as the 4200.

I, too, have that exact scope, on my Savage 10ML-II muzzleloader. I shoot some pretty stout smokeless loads in it that produce a lot of recoil, and the scope has performed great, no issues with eye relief. I think it is the best scope value out there today...

Well, the warranty on the 4200 (and 3200 and 6500) is actually better than Leupold's because for the first year you own any of them, you get the "No questions asked full refund". Nobody else does that.

I put one a Tikka T3 Lite for crappy weather hunting. It's been a good scope so far and I like it enough that I put one on my son's 30-06.

Can't say how second one will do as I fell and screwed both knees while getting ready to take it to the range and sight it in.

I got mine from Bear Basin Outfitters.

Purchased an Elite 4200 3-9X40 about a month ago.
The crosshairs do not move when the adjustment knob is moved. The crosshairs may move later but unpredictable. The warranty info with the scope indicates a lifetime warranty, but no 1 year provision. I looked on the Bushnell website and found this wording.
"Elite Bullet-Proof Warranty, "No questions asked" one year replacement(US only)"
This doesn't sound like a refund to me, but guess I will find out what it means.

+1.......my Sako 30-06 wears and Elite 4200 2.5-10x4o. Super glass, super tough, not problems with eye relief at all (mostly hype from Leupy coolaid drinkers). Rainguard works as advertised. That 3-9x40 is a super scope at a super price.

I bought 4 of them so far, three 6-24x and a 3.5-10x. Tried a Nikon Monarch with side focus 6-24x but when switching to a rifle with the 4200 I can really see the better contrast and clarity of the 4200. These scopes function flawlessly.

I used the Bushnell one year return policy for a 8-32x when eye position was too critical for use in the field. They sent my money back within a few weeks. You only get one such return however.

I purchased a Leupold VX-II last June, and it is a good scope but not with the color rendition and contrast of the 4200. The Leupold cost a bit more.
