Just been catching up and what's the deal with the new 338? Anyone got any good info, or have bought one and used it?

I have deceided that my very next lever gun is going to be in the .338 cal! I have always like the .338 caliber for big game and I know a lever gun in that caliber will give the extra range for those shots across the been and corn fields.

Try packing a lever action around the woods for awhile. Once you do that, it will be hard to carry a bolt action rifle again. I have a 338 and have not bloodied it yet, but sure like it. Great packing gun.

Yes, the lever guns are light as a general rule and very fast to shoulder, however once you put a rifle scope on the lever you lose a lot of that great feel of the lever gun and why it was made the why it was in the begining.

I really hated putting a rifle scope on my 1895 .444 Marlin but I had to inorder to see things out passed 40 yards. Anyway if I get a .338 lever gun, I will have to put a scope on the rifle so I can see to shoot that big buck.
