I just bought an older one no safety and it is marked 9XX of 2000,just what does that mean? It is a Stainless model SRC 20 inch with nice Walnut.

Must have been a special run...does it have any features that perhaps a "normal" Rossi lever wouldn't have? I have the same gun you describe, but it is not numbered as yours. I really like it, although the chamber seems oversized, as my brass really "balloons up" after firing. That just requires a bit extra pressure in the re-sizing operation of reloading.

They did a special run of stainless 92's, I had one, a 20 inch SRC in .45 Colt. Probably should have kept it.

Ken 458 is yours stainless SRC as well? 1lasportsman your Ser# is 7xx and mine is 9xx of a run of 2000 !

Yes, mine is a SRC and stainless with no safety.

Ken are you sure it has not been rebored for the 454 cassull?
Did you buy this rifle new? If it is like ours it will have just on the underside of the recever RR XXX of 2000.

Which may be a limited run of SS92's .
