Other than the Talley Lwt's.
Thinking about swapping my 3.5x10x40 Leupold with a smaller and lighter 2x7x33 on my Rem model 7.

I have low Talley Lwt's on it now and it is higher than I like. With a smaller objective on the 2x7x33 I have a feeling I REALLY wont like it.

Any ideas?

Conetrol...they're steel, lightweight and very low. More expensive than most but great looking and very strong rings.

Strongest lightweights that go lower than Talleys are the ubiquitous aluminum Weaver's. They ain't exactly pretty, but then neither is a Model 7, but both are utilitarian ( I had them on an M7 fifteen years ago).

I'd agree, but are they light? Never handled any personally.

My scale shows 2.7 oz. for the DNZ & 2.1 oz for Talleys.

Look at Burris dual dovetail super-low rings/base. Steel, but very low.

VERY happy with single piece DNZ's. Recently put on two rifles (including new Tikka T3 lite in 7RM Mag - looks great too), will be putting them on more of our rigs during off-season... Elk hunting buddy has Talley's on new Sako A7 in 300 Win Mag and is pleased with those as well. Cant go wrong with either.

I'd like to see what you end up with as I'd like to change out my Leupold 1 peace mount I have on my Model 7 to something a little more appealing.

Personally I think the DNZ's aren't the best looking things and would think Weavers would even been a huge improvment in appearance.

On the other hand I think the Model 7 is a very good looking platform.

EVERYBODY knows weavers are to outdated and cheap to be any good!!
Seriously, most of my rifles wear weaver rings and bases. Partly because I am a cheapskate and mostly because I've never found anything wrong with them. And hey, if weaver was good enough for Virgil at the Houston warehouse, then who am I to argue???
