Sorry about the caps lock being on. Apparently (dennis) has sensitive ears. I would like to hear about chrony's, PACTs, M2's and others. I've shot with a buddy who has a chrony a couple times. It seems a little flimsy. It showed my 35 whelen about 50 to 100 fps faster than factory advertized velocity. This was with Rem 200 and 250 grain factory loads and with nosler 250 grain factory loads. I believe my buddies is F1 chrony. The last time we went I shot my 223 over the chrony and it showed both factory and hand loads slower than I expected. It also show his 8 mag slower than the first time we shot it. I am thinking about getting back into handloading and would like to have a decent chronograph for load development. agazain, more details on pro chronograph.

CED M2. Everything else is distant second. That's not to say that everything else won't work, but the M2 is currently the best on the market for the average/serious shooter.

I sold my Oehler M35 (the gold standard for chrono's, but no longer manufactured) for an outrageous price this spring (what folks are willing to pay for a M35 is mind boggling to me) and bought a M2......

I have an M2 with the standard skyscreens, and it has functioned flawlessly. If I were to nit-pic, I'd like the main electronics/display unit in more robust case as the current plastic one is a little cheesy, but thats a very minor gripe...

I have owned three chronographs, a beta chrony, Pact and Pro chrony. The Beta chrony worked good far awhile but then started to show alot of errors, I had the Pact for three days and about two thirds of the shots were errors, took it back and exchanged it for the Pro chrony. As long as the sun is not directly overhead or high in the sky the chrony is near perfect.

The Pro Chrono can't be beat "for the money."
