Need new All-Season tires for a light duty P/U.. (Tundra ) 265 70 R16..

I've always liked Michelin as they seem to be a good high mileage tire. However, I've only had experience with them on passenger cars.

My local Sam's club has the Michelin's for $144 ea, mounted/balanced.. Are they worth it, compared to other manf's which run about $100 lesss for the set?

I'd appreciate anyone with info that may help me choose..

Had Michelin or ?,, like them ? didn't like them???

Thanx all !

Al

Alruner,
I just ordered another set of Michelins in your same size for my T100 from Costco. I have not been able to duplicate the handling and wear characteristics of Michelin. Recently, I tried Bridgestone to avoid French products but they were noisy, terrible handling and half the miles. I usually get 50K miles from Michelin tires while driving quite a lot of gravel road and the Alcan Highway RT twice a year. I do not use studded tires in Winter. Some of the soft rubber tires provide slightly better snow/ice traction but wear very rapidly on gravel or in warmer weather.

Alruner,
I highly recomend the Michelin. That is all I run on my light trucks. I can't wait to wear out the factory tires so I can put on the Michelin LTX MS. I love the tire. It 'MAKES' the truck. I run them on my Tundra and they run so smooth and quiet. They also are good in the snow. They aren't real aggressive, but they do the job. I won't run anything but that tire, (265-70/16) on my trucks. Try them, you'll love them.

Done deal!

Just got back from Sam's and the Tundra is sporting a new set of Michelin X-Radial LT's.. I thought I would get the LTX-MS's but it appears that Sam's, BJ's and Costco sell the LT's.. I believe Costco can also get the MS's..

I did a little research and found that Michelin compares the two, and they are almost identical in the items they rate, with a bit of an edge given to the M/S's for being smoother.. or quieter..can't remember for sure..

Anyway, just want to thank everyone for their comments/advice.. as always the 24hourcampfire guys are a great bunch..

BTW.. picked up 180 Zeiss lens wipes for $8.86..at Sam's.
apologies for an off-topic comment.. just wanted to share what I think is a darn good deal..

Thanx again!

Al.

IIRC Bridgestone is owned by a French Company as is BF Goodrich. The ONLY American Tire Co. is Goodyear..all of the other major companies are Japanese, French, or Italian.

A quick search shows Japanese based...

"Bridgestone Americas Holding, Inc is an international manufacturer with 38 production facilities throughout the Americas. The Nashville, Tennessee-based company was formed in 1990 when Bridgestone U.S.A. merged with The Firestone Tire & Rubber Company. We are the largest subsidiary of Bridgestone Corporation based in Tokyo, Japan."

Not so. We still have the Kelly (owned by Goodyear) and Cooper Tire companies. I've been running Cooper Discoverer A/T's on a Chevy Tahoe for a couple years. Quiet ride, decent traction and they're wearing very well. Best of all, they're not French.
