It's about time I start to set up the vault. The vault is approx 7'x15' room with all concrete walls, floor and ceiling in our basement. I have air flow in and out continuously and the radiant floor loop is isolated by a ball valve and I leave it off to keep the room cool. I also will use it as a root cellar. The door is a Browning vault door.
On the one long wall I plan to put custom Lista cabinets to store my ammo, powder and reloading supplies. I plan a stainless over wood countertop. Not sure how I'll mount my Forster co-ax and RCBS case trimmer etc.
On the opposite long wall I plan to store my guns. I'm thinking something like a rack you would find in a gun store so they stand muzzle upward. Any suggestions?
A 7'x15' concrete gun vault sounds great however using also as a root cellar isn't a good combination. Most produce in a root cellar needs to be stored at 32-40F with 80-90 percent relative humidity.
I'd suggest either finding another location for the root cellar or split the room into to smaller rooms using concrete block and have two separate doors.
Sounds like a fun project, let's see some before and after pics.

Just potatoes and squash. Maybe some canned stuff.
Cool, dry place. About the coolest place we have indoors and plenty dry.
I'm almost thinking of using the 7' end wall for the gun rack for starters. I have 7 long guns at present and think I can exercise enough restraint to limit myself to a dozen or so. Brother in law wants to store a couple here too...
Combo? What combo? It's not even closed. I think it's at the default 123456 or something like that until I figure out how to set it and actually put something in there.
Is there a forum that this might be more suited to be in? Somewhere that it won't get buried so fast?
