Sent to me by my buddy, who took the shots earlier today off of the Cape.

Hint to those who do not hunt the big water: those are *not* seagulls. wink

That is really neat, seeing waterfowl in those numbers is an eyeopener. I have video of a goose hunt in western Minnesota two weeks ago of a few thousand honkers lifting off of a picked cornfield. Pretty neat to say the least.

Never gone after salty ducks. What were the bulk of those birds?

When water fowl flock up they can indeed generate some amazing numbers. These are not salt birds, but it's a frequent spring view out my office window. Snow and Ross's geese. I've always wondered how much tonnage is in the air when a group like this takes off.

I'll guess your office looks at malhure national wildlife refuge. I wonder if there are any pheasant left

I have never seen a scoter on the Miss. flyway.....I guess they are strictly on the coast.

I've killed three in Central WI over the last five years, a Surf and two Whitewing.

There is an incredible amount of Longtails (formerly known as the alleged un-PC Oldsquaw) that winter on Lake Michigan.

Baltz526: That photo was taken north of Wrights Point looking west. The spring birds don't pile up on the refuge much. They prefer the closely cropped private sector meadows where the emerging grasses are readily available. There are a ton of pheasant on the Refuge this year.
