I saw an older ruger 77 in 220 swift with a heavy barrel for sale the other day. I was in the market for a 223 rem, but considered this instead. I probably shouldn't even consider buying it because the rifling is worn and the lands in the throat area are worn.

In the last couple of weeks I've been on a tour of the local shops and also gone to several gun shows. Probably 2-3 dozen Ruger tang safety 77's were seen. The typical price for a tang safety Ruger was $399. Lowest was $339, highest was $529. One at $499 was a varmint 220 Swift. I didn't look at it.

If a rifle has a shot-out barrel, all you are buying is a stock and action.
