I am already planning to get myself a post-christmas present. I am gonna get a 28 ga. semi auto. I am interested in the Franchi AL48 Deluxe, but I don't know anyone with any personal experience with them. I already own a 1100 sporting 410, so I know what to expect with the same gun in 28. Any input about the AL48 Deluxe would be helpful. Thanks guys.

I say those Franchis are high maintenance. MD says they aren't. Believe whomever you wish. smile

I believe the writer Layne Simpson holds the Franchi's in high regard too. I personally don't own one, but have played with the idea of one in a 28 too.

Andy I have both. I have not had any problems with either one but believe they serve very different rolls. If you shoot more targets than game birds get the 1100. If you shoot more game birds than targets get the franchi. If you hunt with a shotgun and pack it any distance you will really like the franchi over the 1100.
My 48 delux also has very nice wood and fit and finish is least on par with the remingtons that own (that would be a bunch). The only drawbacks to the franchi is the feeling of the recoil compared to a gas auto. Alot of people with tell it you it feels like a pogo stick going off compared to the gas auto.
Thats my opinion anyway.

i own the franchi 28 deluxe also and personally love the gun but as dink said if you are target shooting get the 1100.The franchi is so light you can lift it with your pinky finger but recoil can feel worse then a 12ga.but when hunting franchi's come to your shoulder naturally and fast.As far as reliability they both are very reliable

Buy the Franchi, they're beautiful little guns and if you don't buy the Franchi, you will always be wondering if you should have. Have you hunted with a 28ga much?
