It's the end of the regular season. Penguin is again out stalking a bragging-class buck. The schedule is down to 16 games this week. Conference championships and bowl berths are on the line. Last chance to cover yourself with glory. Five of the following are courtesy of last week's winner Cheesy. 1. Oregon State-Oregon (Thursday evening) 2. Ohio-Central Michigan (Friday evening) 3. Cincinnati-Pittsburgh 4. WVU-Rutgers 5. Fresno State-Illinois 6. Arizona-USC 7. Florida-Alabama (this game is included solely to mollify Sam ) 8. Georgia Tech-Clemson 9. South Florida-Connecticut 10. Texas-Nebraska -- plus total points for the tie-breaker Good Luck to all (except Foxbat)(and byc)

You've done an awesome job of filling in for Will, Darby.
Great work.

A Nebraska win would really shake up the NC picture. I would like to see them pull it off. The jury is still out as to whether I'll pick them for the W. Time to consult the tea leaves.

Thanks for the kindly words, isaac. But -- As for juggling the totals, sorry, I can't do that - the check is being returned. If you had just sent cash like I specified...

I am stunned that Florida/Alabama is one of the choices this week. Stunned. Florida will win over 'Bama. The rest? I don't have a dog in those fights.

I'll not be watching the game. I have a long standing commitment to be down in the Ocala National Forest hunting and camping. I don't have cell phone service, but I will have my Sony radio, and can listen to it. Go Gators...................:D
Hey, the Mango Madness goes good with just about everything Bob. !

I've been out of this thing for the past few weeks cuzz of hunting.
Kind of nice seeing the National Championship game being played in early December. It's only appropriate that it be played betwixt two SEC teams.

This week's picks and the largely pointless thoughts behind them: OREGON - It's hunting season, so shooting Ducks takes precedence over shooting Beavers. CENTRAL MICHIGAN - Ohio harbors a prima donna (sitting out a year) whose talents weren't appreciated (to the level deemed appropriate by his father) at his previous school. (I hold grudges until the feathers drop off.) CINCINNATI - Puckers from Phit let me down last week. WEST VIRGINIA - This week the the Mount and Ears get to screw me over by losing instead of by winning. ILLINOIS - The Sick Eye Nie should be able to handle the living-on-past glory Bullfrogs. USC - They still are SC and Arizona is still Arizona. FLORIDA - Turds of an Alternate Life-Style will find a way to prevail over Oxydol's chief rival. CLEMSON - Both of these shieces of pit let me down last week. I am tired of the Tech Wreck folding up their tents when the going gets tough. UCONN - Fat Boys' Jeans have broken through with a win. Hoping for some good entertainment from Leavitt. TEXAS - You need at least some semblance of an offense to win big games. Trombones will defeat Grain Strippers. 34 points

If Pitt beats Cincy, is WVU only out of it because of their annual debacle with USF?

How in the freaking world do Va Tech, Ga Tech and Miami not to mention Stanford, WVU, USC and California all receive top 25 rankings and Clemson does not? Clemson is playing for the ACC championship this week for cripes sake.
I just don't understand how these people think.

That Big Easy will walk away with the best bowl record once again this year. I got your Clemson chicks on the schedule for their beating. Be grateful.

You best be hoping that none of them have to face an real SEC team or for that matter Clemson.

byc, you of course realize there really wasn't much else to pick -- had to scrape the bottom of the barrel so to speak.
But, for bringing that up you are hereby fined previous three Ws OR a properly-prepared smoked pork shoulder. Air delivered.

I just don't understand how these people think. That's a very good point. This is exactly what would happen if the (genuflection required here) PLAY-OFF SYSTEM for a NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP that everyone is crying for were to become a reality. No matter how the participants were to be selected, there would be (often justified) howls of protest from the fans of those left out. (You have to remember that I think that we need a NATIONAL CHAMPION slightly less than a boar needs tits.)
