Prices mentioned are $130-$200. If they can make a scope in the USA, at this price, with optics that compare with a Nikon ProStaff or Buckmaster, then they should have a HUGE hit on their hands.

If these things are pretty decent, I also think they'll cut into sales of the Rifleman scopes and the VXI. Maybe this is intentional so that they can save the Leupold name for their better quality scopes like the VXII/VXIII etc, while using the Redfield name on their sub-$250 scopes....

I hope it works out. Redfield was the scope all of the serious hunters used around here when I was a kid. I'm still running 3 of them.

According to Meade, there scope line, in order of increasing quality, is Simmons, Redfield, then Weaver. Not sure what Leupold's purchase of Redfield will elevate the quality or not.

Leupold only purchased the name ( trade mark ) from Meade so quality will be what Leupold puts in to it no Meade in the new Redfield. Thank God.

I think with Leupold taking them over it could only be a good thing. Not sure how high quality they will be as they are selling for 60 less than a Rifleman series.

It seems a very strange move by Leupold? Unless Leupold intend to eventually drop their basic scopes like the Rifleman and move the Leupold brand more up market?

It will be interesting to see what sort of warrenty Redfield scopes carry? If they are aimed at the cheap end of the market, it may be they come with say a limited 12 month warrenty, and Leupold will save $$$ by not having to do free repairs forever and day on bottom end scopes??

SWFA may have them listed for sale, but they DO NOT have them in stock..

I talked with one of their sales staff on the phone and they told me they would not actually be in stock for another month or two..

Looking at the 3-9 x 40 scope with the Duplex reticle at $149 begs the question..

WHEN was the last time you saw a MADE IN THE USA scope that was brand new with a real warrantee at that price????

The only other US optics co- Burris- uses Phillipino scopes for their low end Full field II line..

I've read (in at least two different places) that they have lifetime, transferable warranties. No doubt I'll try one when they become available.

According to their site, redfield.com, they will be like Leupold and have lifetime warranties.
