Rep. Dean Kaufert has announced a proposal to stop this years T-zone. I am not sure he has enough time left though.

True - moved from GB to Oshkosh and my rates went down. Explained that there were less deer "so far south"...

Not true. The Ins co. could care less how many deer are around. They adjust the premiums to compensate.

All Decker is doing is grandstanding on an important issue to get himself reelected. As soon as that happens, he'll install his own chronys and deer management will be turned out to the highest bidder or just given to a campaign contributor. Business as usual in Wisconsin.

Warnke's daughter shot a doe on the last day of the youth season. We should probably put that on the charges against him too, aiding and abetting. wink

Decker's a Democrat, he's not going to put any pressure on the right people, as they'll have him dealt with, Chicago style.

A democrat that is worried about reelection, like many others should be as well, as far as I can see. One political move to get many to think he is an alright polotician. I don't believe he is doing this except for political gain.

The last Democrat I voted for was Senator Bill Proxmire. That's more than a few years ago. Any state level politition that promises to do some major house cleaning at the WDNR will have my vote.

So far, Mr. Decker seems to be the only one leading the charge for those of us who are fed up with all the lying arrogant managerial jerks at the WDNR. Where are all our "Friend of the Sportsman" Republican legislators hiding out on this issue?

It's been a while since the DNR was a major campaign issue.

I could be that they're sticking to their ideals of small government and not getting involved in a nongovernmental issue. The last thing that we need is a legislative "fix" to this problem. I can assure you that nothing will be fixed and will quite certainly get worse.

Nothing has been "fixed" at the WDNR for a loooooong time and it has certainly gotten much worse.

So what do you suggest? Do we just sit on our hands and continue to take everything the WDNR dishes out like good little subjects? OR do we try to get their attention?

I'd like your thoughts.

Yep. Decker must be up for re-election, or he's ving for the Gov's office. I like what he is saying, but I take as just talk at this point.

He's about as liberal as the rest of the DNR, so not a chance in hell he's getting my vote.

Don't get me wrong....there needs to be a MAJOR change within the DNR. And I'd love to see decker do it. I wouldn't even consider a vote for him UNTIL I saw some action, not just word. Talk is cheap. But don't see him short.....he's as arrogant as they come. He'd fit in perfectly with the people they have in place now.

I like what he's saying, I just don't believe he's going to do anything but talk.

Well something does have to be done.

I hunt Menominee county in Michigan - my friends hunt the Crivitz area. Basically we hunt the same type of terrain, mixed woods with some ag about.

What I see in a night, they see in a season for deer. They go into fits when I say I pass up bucks during the gun season as they can't count on seeing any much less more than one.

Ain't saying one place is better than the other but I can't figure out why the HUGE disparity in deer numbers between 2 places that aren't all that far apart.

Same here. I have a buddy that has a camp (he and his two sons)near Pembine--they didn't even see a deer all season. I hunted near Powers, MI just across the river and passed on six small bucks and saw deer every time I went in the woods.

They have bears and wolves there too. What they don't have is Frank and Warnke!

Car/deer crashes are down in WI over that last 5 years. Why hasn't my insurance gone down?

Kinda tells you what's happening with our deer herd.

WN - I was hunting just down the road from you. Technically its Perronville but I am just before the casino. Hwy 551.

LOTS of bears this year - didn't see any but I saw about 3 of my apple trees loose limbs.

I thought I heard a shot from your direction! LOL

Actually, I was probably closer to Hermansville than Powers. Love that country...and the people.

I was planning to go back there this week with ML but I have a Kansas tag burning a hole in my pocket. Maybe next weekend.

Wasn't me - I fired no shots in anger. Brother got a nice 9 point. My father is up there muzzleloading today. I took the weekend off. First time I've not been up there since the middle of September.
