Just killed my best buck with my daughters 243 and an 85gr TSX. 45gr of IMR4831. Through both shoulders at 200 yards and just under the hide on the far side. Here's what it came out looking like.

What are the things I should consider in building a 6/06?

I'm planning on giving my smith a dummy cartridge so he can set the throating up for that [85 gr TSX] combo, hopefully the rifle will like that bullet...

Not sure on the action yet, Remington doesnt allow resale of its 700 actions any more, so you cant pick one up at Brownells, so might just buy a beater 700 with a .308 boltface and go from there.

Also might go with a custom action, as long as it can be set up for magazine feed.

Am looking at the Lawton 7000, which is essentially a Rem 700 clone, they are 875, a little pricey but they have a good rep and you dont have to blueprint them.

Impressive looking bullet.

Did you get a chance to chrono the load?

Should be in the neighborhood of like 3,200fps I guess?

No. I didn't find the rifle until shortly before the season and barely got the load worked up in time to get my daughter some range time with it. You are right on, according to the manual that load should be somewhere between 3,200-3,300fps. I will be fine tuning things after season and get it through the chrony then.

Dober, have you tried any of Nosler's 90 grain ETips in 6mm yet?

I have about 150 of them, but havent loaded any yet. That could actually be the winner in 6mm class.
