On a related note: I left 130's behind for my .270 long ago. Now, it's either a 140 or 150 starting out at around 2,800 fps. Works for me.

Can you imagine someone posting the picture on the net of someone who might be identified as a member of the Waffen SS!
What humiliation. Some of these men raped and burned small girls. What cowards!'
Not only that but the ones who were not fools still had to fight with obsolete weapons.

JM,
I prefer to use heavier-for-caliber bullets, and keep the MV in the 2700-2900 fps range. I like a medium-soft bullet, like an Accubond, which you can use even on big critters like elk if you use enought bullet weight.
Running heavier for caliber has lots of advantages, and few disadvantages IMHO.
I'm not the saltiest pretzel in the bag with this hunting stuff, granted, but that's what's worked for me. I know the trend is for light bullets run fast. Doesn't move me.
The CENTER will hold.

I tend to like heavy-for-caliber bullets, at moderate velocities, but most of my shots are inside 300 yards, with the vast majority closer than 200 yards. Hot cores, and cup and core all seem to deliver fine in those circumstances.

The Waffen SS. Would you take this to another Forum, please? Many americans died, our fathers and grandfathers, so people would have the freedom to post crap like that. On topic, a 140 7mm would work well enough on a punk bigot as they aren't much bigger than a deer.

I use the 154gr Hornady Spire Points in my 7mm Mag with great results on deer.

Armies do lose wars however!!! That Nazi army was pathetic. They had old weapons, ran from the enemy and were cowards torturing children and woman. Against my better judgment, I'll weigh in here on an issue that would be better taken up via PM between the parties concerned. I wholly concur on not endorsing anything that promotes the Nazi philosophy and related atrocities. However... Germany in World War II had (and squandered) some of the most talented military minds and skilled fighting men of the 20th Century. Pathetic, the Wehrmacht were not. Now, they were surely led down the garden path by their political leadership, especially the Waffen SS, but it is simply not true to assail their effectiveness. Consider that a nation the size of the Dakotas held off essentially the rest of the world for almost six years. As for their weapons, the only one for which your statement rings true is perhaps the K98 rifle; but it was no more "obsolete" than the SMLE, Mosin-Nagant, or Arisaka were at the time. What's more, the MG42 is in use to this day by a number of nations, including Germany. Then there's the P38 pistol, upon which almost every double-action semi-auto pistol is based. Need I mention the Me-262? The allies never operationally put anything like that into the air during the war. The Nazis were nothing to admire, but get your facts straight...it lends strength to your position. Now, back to our regularly scheduled programming... Scott

My father and all my uncles on both sides served in WW2. One uncle, died. My late great father didn't hold a grudge against the Japanese or Germans. He served on an LST ship in the Mediteranian and at Okinawa. I bet he saw more casualties come aboard than he ever wanted to remember.
If someone's idea of a soldier is the Waffen SS I'm sorry. But I worked as prison medical staff for eight years. The white supremicist inmates are the worst human trash I ever met.

If someone's idea of a soldier is the Waffen SS I'm sorry. One has to be careful with their "idea of a soldier." I don't know what we should call waves of B-29s spilling incendiary bombs out of their bellies onto paper cities filled with Japanese civilians, but that's not my "idea of a soldier" either. War is ugly and the people involved can do atrocious things. That's just the sick, sad truth. No one is innocent, but some are better and some are worse than others.

I'm going to agree to disagree with you regarding the Waffen SS. As I said, my father did not hold a grudge against the people he fought against. I follow that example as best I can.

Furthermore, who gives a flying **** what he thinks about someone's avatar??
