Rem 700 in a 8mm rem mag. It will reach out and leave a mark.

That would have to be my 338 win mag, second would be my backwards action m77 in 300 and then if I had to take a spare it would be the old 1917 enfield in the ubiquitous 30-06. I used to have a 300 weatherby (1917 action) that was amazingly accurate and definately hit with authority, this would probably be my go to gun if I still had it.

For the past five years it been a pre-64 Mod.70 restocked in a nice piece of English walnut with a Krieger barrel chambered to .280AI. It wears a Leupold 3x10 with dots. All up it's a little heavy at just under 9lbs, but it's a real shooter. And for the areas I hunt it's just the ticket, at least for me.

Got a 50 gun safe full of favorites. At least 3 get to go on each hunt. This year's favorite is a Montana in 308. One that always goes is a beat up old Rem 700 BDL action in 35 Whelen in a mtn rifle stock. It's accounted for several. But I like for everybody to get their chance. Don't want to hear the grumbling from the safe while I'm working in the shop.

Mine is a old custom 338-378 wby, W/a 28" shilen smg brl throwing 225 Nosler accubonds @3375fps. Have been fortunate enough to have taken 4 bulls. Delivers a swift and final decision on any flight plans...Gunner

Hard to beat that combo, probably the way I was raised. Of course in my 20's I had to be smarter so I went 7 rem mag, 300 winnie, 35 Whelen, now Im thinking Id like to pick up a nice 30-06 and just quit messing around with redundant rifles and just hunt more and kill stuff.

This year it was a very accurate, and light Tikka T3 ss/syn in 30-06.
Also I put a Leupold 3.5-10 on it.
