Varget is way to fast. Try RL22 or RL25 they both should put you close to 3000 fps. Just hold on and don't get that eyebrow to close to the scope.

Love my 8mag, I have used 200 to 220, never had one walk away. One great round. They do kick, the gun will break your snot locker loose. It is one of the sharpist kicking guns that I have ever shot. Good luck working up loads.

This is an old thread, I am a fan of the 8 Mag, I am seeking some load data on a 250 grain bullet, id like 2750 or so out of it and a load for the 170 grain GS bullet. I had a Classic 700 in 8 mm Rem and sold it, but recently bought another one. I have some custom loaded 250 grain hawk bullets and some nosler 180 grain ballistic tips loaded, plus some custom loaded 220 grain A Frames loaded.

I have some 250 grain Blue Mountain bullets that id like to load for bear here in Alaska. I am a BIG FAN of A Frames and believe the 220 grainers would be devastating but also like the idea of a 250 grain bullet.
