Thig guy right here. It is a .375 H&H built on an Interarms Mark X action. This is my go to rifle for antelope & up.

Not a bad choice. My first elk was a cow & I shot her with a .300 H&H.

Favourite by numbers killed was my Rem 700 Classic .35 Whelen. But I sold it and got a Sako AV Classic in .35 Whelen. That's still my favourite chambering, but my latest acquisition is a Sako fullstock carbine in 30-06, and it worked real well this fall. - then again a Brno 21h 7x64 calls to me from the rack, and I did shoot my best bull with it...

338 federal with 210 grain Nosler Partitions. Absolutely love that gun and caliber--serious elk medicine.

I have only hunted elk 2X. Once in Colorado and once in idaho. Colorado was successful (I didn't pull the trigger but had opportunity twice. Passed for a larger bull). Idaho was a bust. Steep and never saw an elk or even much in the way of sign of elk. Both hunts were hard. Steep, rough terrain. I took my Weatherby Mark V in .300Wby both times. That is probably the best "rifle" I have, or so I thought. Well, I carried around a really heavy rifle for a full week both times and never used it. I think next time I will worry more about weight and less about an extra 200 fps.... Heck, I might even take a .22lr when they start making a .22 in TSX.. That's gotta be deadly...

Mine is my Remington Sendero 7MM RUM with a Burris Black Diamond 4x16 50mm. I run handloads 139 gr Hornady SST Interbonds with 96.4 grains of H1000. The trigger has been worked also.

Hey rl11, I don't know if you ever tinker around with your triggers because I know from experience the ruger m77 mkII triggers are HORIBLE for creep, and pull weight. My trigger on my 300 was so bad I actually had nighmares about it. Here is a web sight that is pretty cool and goes into detail about how to make the ruger trigger function the way it should (light, crisp, and less creep). http://www.centerfirecentral.com/77trigger.html Ruger MKII chambered in 7mm Rem Mag. Grey Laminate stock with 24 stainless tube. 3x9 Bushnell 3200 w/ firefly reticle.
Ugly, heavy, and horrible trigger. Shoots 160 grain Accubonds well under MOA right at 3000 fps though. Trigger getting reworked is first on the list, than possibly a new Leupold or Zeiss to sit on top.
Hunted with the rifle for six years now, and it has three elk, six whitetail, two bears, and three mule deer under it's belt.

.45-100 Sharps with a 535 gr paper patched bullet over 94 gr of Swiss 1.5f. That will do the job all right. A lot better than most modern calibers, I suspect.

Yup, it's been working for 130+ yrs. The elk still haven't figured out how to beat it.
