What's a Kimber LA? I've just heard of an 84L. Still haven't been able to see one or anything about them on the Kimber site.

LA = Long Action
Call them and ask. Post what they say. In the meantime get a Kimber in .280AI!

I've been looking. Can't find a Kimber in a .280AI anywhere!

I don't think the 280AI is going to be out until it wears the 84L name. The first 84L's will be Classics slated for the RMEF banquets.

Will the Kimber LA be offered in 338-06? Wild guess only, but I'd bet we'd see them offer a 280 Ackley before they they even thought about a 338-06.

From my sources I learned that the 84L will be offered initially in .30-06 Spfg, .270 Win, and .25-06 Rem. They will carry a MSRP of $1359 and they will start delivering them somewhere around March, 2010. The .280AI will be dropped from the 2010 catalog. Nosler has not shipped one .280AI proof load to anyone. Since there is no proof ammo there have been no .280AI Kimber rifles produced. If I were Kimber I would bring litigation against Nosler. In case you do not know what a proof load is: "The Proof process is that of testing a firearm for integrity using a severely overcharged cartridge, or Proof load which is fired through the gun in an armored testing chamber. This exposes it to pressures far beyond what it would experience in normal service. It is awarded a stamped Proof Mark if it survives without either being destroyed or suffering damage from the proof load."

VarmintLooney,
Thanks for the update. Without a 280 in the 84L's cartridge mix I will just compare the new model to the 8400 Montana 270 WSM that I have.
Perhaps if one with nice wood were on the rack?
I don't care if its a 280, 280ai or a 7mm-06.

I would like to get an 84L in 280 but I'd settle for an 84M in 7-08 with 1:8 twist. Doubt it will happen though.

Wont be much worse than the 300 WSMs I'm sure it'll be snorty, but manageable. It is after all a hunting rifle

My .300WSM is more than manageable, so I expect the '06 will only be that much better. Gonna start saving my sheckles for an 84L in .270 Win.

300wm in a montana is hardly noticable. You wouldn't know it was a 300 if all you did was feel the recoil. I would thing that they could do a similar job with the stock on the 84LA. I hope.

I've had a 300wsm Montana. And for the round was amazingly forgiving. But I flinch and am too busy thinking about recoil while I shoot. My 260 I have now is orgazmic to shoot. So I'm hoping it will fix my issues. I've also a 10/22 I've been blowin rounds through and am hoping that by the time I get my hands on a slightly used -06 in 84L all will be cured.. If I was required to own only one rifle it would be an -06. Can't help it but it's the best ever.

I would like to see the 284Win off the new 84L. Long mag, long throat. O MUMMA now that would be special! If not, 270Win for me

Wonder how far down the road the 84L Montana version will debut? Middle of next year was what Aaron Cummings told me, last time I bumped into him around town. Stocks are the hold-up I have my name on one of the first 30-06's to hit the shelves at Snappys
