At times when there very active we will get some that run five or six pounds, thats big for here. Even small ones are fun!!! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif" alt="" />

Sooner or later our heritage of hunting is going to be a rich mans sport and the words "Outfitter" and "Hunt Industry" will be synonymous with cancer and A.I.D.S. among blue collar hunters like me and my family! (A.L. Williams - 2010)

http://www.bcadventure.com/adventure/angling/game_fish/burbot.phtml Try this link . There a kick, but ugly, but a great game fish. We fish for them at night in the dark they only seem to feed in total darkness( no moon light)

We went out Tuesday night and did well. Two of us fished from 7:30pm to 11:30pm and got 20+ling only one was over 28" so the rest went back in to the drink. We did also get 6 "NICE" rainbows, over 5lbs each on our sucker bait. The went back in too, the wind was real bad or we would have stayed longer...

Great Shooter--
How do you fish for them? I'm in the U.P. of MI and I fish for them occassionally thru the ice at/after dark with a whole frozen smelt. We have a season for fishing them with hoop nets on two rivers up here and they are quite popular with the Finns.

I've only fished for Ling once and managed to catch one. Been asking for some tip's ever since and have never got a reply. I have seen it done a couple ways but my options are still really limited due to lack of knowledge on the subject. Anyone out there really know much about fishing for the elusive Ling?

DISTRIBUTION - This species is distributed throughout the freshwaters of North America and continental Eurasia. It is absent from Nova Scotia and the Atlantic islands in Canada.--
I don't think that I have ever seen one of these in Arkansas and I have fished and netted a lot. It looks sort of like a fish we call a grinnel but not exactly. Do these fish have a spot on the tail? Also the grinnel has a nearly aqua blue tint to the inside of his mouth. miles
Look out for number 1, don't step in number 2.
