I'm looking to buy a stainless synthetic rifle chambered in .375 h&h, without open sights. I've contacted a few companies and haven't gotten a straight answer on whether or not you can order them without open sights. The first rifle i looked at was a remington 700 xcr, also browning stainless A bolt stalker. I know cz doens't make stainless rifles that size, i'm not looking to custom build this rifle, but may consider buying one that is if it meets these specs... Thanks for any help or responses, Joe

You can get a Sauer w/o open sights, in fact a 26" bbl. Mine will push an old 210 X at 3000+ which shoots as flat as an 06'.
Don't think they come Stainless. Why not just take off the sights? Won't affect accuracy at all.

in africa we shoot 375H&H often. open sights here is a given as we use the 375 against dangerous game quite often.

i used a 375 with a synthetic stainless finish once. didnt care for it it kicked like a mule.

How about a model 70 Winchester with all the bells & whistles already on the rifle. You know, "The Rifleman's Rifle"!

I have a "bud" that has a Sako Hunter w/o sights and has over the years made many stacks of dead animals. He uses two Leupold 1.5-5's with Leupold rings, both sighted in and ready to go. In two trips to Africa,he has taken about 30 trophies. I never heard him even mention iron sights....

Sako built some without iron sights and you can usually buy them cheaper because of that.

You could always get one twisted together. I had a Remington 700 in 7mag re-barreled to .375H&H. I got the donor pretty cheap, so I only had about $500 in the barreled action after the conversion. I went with a #3 Douglas, and had it cut at 21".

My Sakos in 375 h&h, 416 rem and 9.3x62 are smooth. I use low power fixed and vaiable power scopes. Lou

I would want iron sights oh my .375 if I ever buy another one. That is why the are called DGR's because they are set up to handle the long and short of large game hunting. Make mine iron sighted please.

Thanks for the replies everyone! The reason I want one without the open sights, is becau se I will always have a scope on it, and at a pretty much constant medium range hunting. I don't like the idea of having those screw holes in the barrel once I take them off, it probably won't effect it at all but i kind of get picky with my rifles haha. I figured I could order a remington 700 without them, for cheaper... But then again it would probably be a special order and more expensive, I also looked at donor barrels, I know that douglas makes clean stainless barrels in .375, how could you adapt them to say the rem 700? It also wouldn't have the trinyte coating like the standard xcr barrel though

Here's a .375 I had built without open sites. I can't imagine why I would want open sites on this gun in that I throw it up and the cross hairs are always plastered on whatever I am look at...

Apparently Schewe is of the misconception that you can use a 375 to hunt things other than dangerous game.

If you're not hunting dangerous game, then it's not a dangerous game rifle.
