Building up a 300 mag using a Stiller Tac 300 and would like to know if I need to spend the extra $$$ to true the action. The cost depending upon which smith is between $175- $300. I don't mind paying the extra $$$ if it is needed, but I don't want to spend money on something that is not needed.
The rifle will be strictly for hunting, no match or competition shooting.
Thanks, Derek

Any money spent truing one of our actions is a waste and will probably make it worse. If the smith says he requires it, you need to find a new smith.

Even if you used it for competition, it wouldn't need machine work. Butch

+1 plus Stiller is a great guy to deal with. Jerry, thanks for getting that rail out to me so quickly.
I still have 3 rifles built on Stiller's actions, but have owned at least 7, never had any problems with his actions. The newer ones that come coated are really nice.
