I have been thinking about purchasing a Lee Hanpress to use in remote camp during fox hunting. Is there anyone willing to share experinence of that kind of press with me? What else do I need with that press in order to roll myself good rifle ammo? i reload for .270 Win. and .30-06 Springfield.

In this country we seldom have Polar Bears but we have Polar Beer all the time.
I use one from the comfort of my recliner. I can resize pistol brass while watching the tube. It has always worked well for me, but resizing large rifle brass may be a little difficult.
kAKALI, The Lee hand press works fine, even for resizeing centerfire rifle brass. You'll need the dies & shellholder(same shellholder for both) for the calibers.Lee's manual case trimmer for each. Chamfer tool.Primer pocket cleaner, a pad of 0000 steel wool..Some Lee case lube for the resizeing.. Calipers are good always to verify OAL etc. Primers, bullets, powder. Once you have a load that works, you can make a powder scoop for that load and not need a scale etc.You may want a small plastic funnel..a load block? Then a box or bag to keep it all in.. I use mine often at the range. Midway should have all the tool items you need..jim
Don't forget a way to prime, there is nota priming ram. I use a Lee primer tool, like it better anyway. The Hand tool is handy for those of who are crowded for loading bench room. The bullet seating is a little tricky with a case full of powder, you tend to lean the thing over for leverage, and then spill. It is still one of the better toys I have bought.
KennyD..You are right. Sorry I neglected that..:) You can get the hand press with funnel, ram prime attachment.I have used the Lee Auto Prime rig for so long I forget it..jim
I can only echo the praise others have already lavished on this tool. I used the hand press as my only means of reloading for several years. I found mine at the local Bi-mart for $6. I reloaded for 30-06, 25-06, and 22-250 with mine. This could be a difficult task if full length sizing brass from a rifle with a large chamber or if using small base dies. I was always careful to adjust my sizing die to only neck size my brass. This greatly reduced the effort needed to operate the press.
People who choose to brew up their own storms bitch loudest about the rain.
I've used mine to full length resize cases up to .375 H&H. IF you don't have large hands or the strength, just clamp it between your thighs near the knees and assist the resizeing.. Maybe the original "thighmaster"..:) I just use my hands tho..jim
The beauty of them is for loading at the range. I use it quite a lot while loading at the house. Sit in the recliner and deprime or resize brass.
The seating depth is not quite as close as on my Rockchucker and is typically +/- 0.001". The rounds are just as concentric as when loaded on my Rockchucker.
ive been using it because i dont have room for a reloading press bench at home. i like it and have been using it to neck down whelen brass to 338-06 and have had no problems so far.

Just a thought. Is weight a problem? You could use a Lee loader which neck sizes only, comes with everything you need, The chart and dipper they use with the kit gives reduced loads, but these may work for what you need. I assume you use some sort of solid for foxes. Do you reload now?
