asked this all over the internet,not getting a lot of luck but i'll try here.

the gun shop i work at has a pile of this powder gathering dust, it's somewhat cheap, and i can't find any data for this what so ever. being a slow burning powder i can assume its intended for magnums, i've run across a few web referances of it being used in 7mm RM and 300 WM. the best i can find is guys saying it's almost identical in charge weight and velocity to RL22, but i'm not real keen on interchanging data. i'm interested in loading it for my .358 Norma Mag, and .264 Win Mag. any help will be greatly appreciated.

Is there any chance this is WMR and not WXR?

No.

WXR is faster burning that WMR.

I asked a rep at Hornady because they list both for the 300WM and their 180s. On page 511 in Hornady's manual 7:

WXR = 68.2 is max @ 2800 fps
WMR = 75.8 is max @ 3000 fps.

I have a can of WMR and intend to use it with the 190gr Hor BT.

So, it's NOT equal to RL-22; that would be WMR! It probably is somewhere between IMR4350 and IMR4831. FWIW.

I've searched loading manuals back to 1975 and find no reference to that powder.

Best of luck to you on this!

Hey Kevin, according to burning rates WXR falls between VV165 & IMR 7828. It's a discontinued product, but if it's selling cheap, might interest some shooters.

and the official response from hodgdon/winchester powders is.....

"we have no data listed for this powder"

so there it is, the folks that made it can't even tell me what to use it in and how much to use.

I use it in my 260 remington, 6.5x55, 30-06, and 243win. I use Rel-19 data as a guide and I get very good accuracy with no pressure pains. I've heard from more than one place that it is a different lot of Rel-22 made for Winchester. Graf's has it for $110 a keg and it is well worth the money.

Here are some results I've had with WXR powder.

I don't drink or Smoke. I spend my money on gunpowder and gasoline.
