Was at the Canon wed site yesterday looking for new things and saw that Canon now has 5 versions of their 70-200mm L. I have the f/2.8 IS. This lens is the one I have on my camera most times. I was also at B&H Photo and saw that they have the Canon 800mm for the paltry price of $10600.00

Canon just came out with a new version of the 70-200 F2.8 IS lens is all. Great lens, I had the older version obviously but sold it and kept my 70-200 F4 IS version.

You should just go big, 800 is small potatoes....they had a 1200mm for $100,000, and probably still do have it.

I have the 70-200 f/2.8 IS and my buddy just bought the 70-200 f/4 IS which I played with a bit.

Boy I'll tell you what that little f/4 is one SWEET lens. I bought the faster lens for taking pics of kids basketball and other indoor stuff but I'm still not so sure if I had it to do all over again I wouldn't just go with the f/4. Half the weight, almost half the cost, better IS (at least than my version) and probably sharper.

Someone choosing between them should really think hard about how much they really NEED the f/2.8 compared to f/4 apeture......................DJ

I think the new version of the 2.8 be different....I would think they upgraded the IS on it as well as some other things.
