I have a 460 in a Weatherby and have another Wby action I am putting a 510 Wells bbl on. I was wondering if anyone has experience with these sights and would use them exclusively. I have a scope on the 460 already but wanted to try this sight instead of putting on open sights. The bbl is ported, a pain for a banded front. The 510 will have no sights. And would you put the FF II on the front ring position or rear?
Thanks

I've had a Fast Fire II on the front action ring of a Winchester Model 70 and it sat way too high to get a good cheek weld. I would recommend, if you want to use a reflex type sight, having a dovetail cut into the barrel ahead of the receiver ring and then mounting the scope onto that in order to get it as low as possible. Also, I doubt the FFII will survive the recoil of your rifle. The sample I had did not inspire confidence in terms of ruggedness, unlike the Trijicon reflex or the Docter Optic, of which the FFII is a copy.

Here's a pic of the FFII on a Model 70:

It looks like it is the same or a little higher than a scope crosshair would be. Interesting. Thanks for the pics.

The dot sits half-way up the screen, I found it like looking through the reticle of a scope in high Weaver rings. A bit distracting for me as I am used to iron sights and low mounted scopes, but it might work for your build/shooting style, particularly if you're using a Weatherby stock with a high comb.

I use that custom mount on my 375. The height is perfect for my eyes.

It could allow the window to be mounted lower than the mount base but I only use it for driven hunt (short range _ moving target) purpose 'cause it's not parallax free beyond 60 yards and there is no click adjustment for accurate zeroing (that one is a docter sight II +). Far an all purpose Red dot, I'd rather favor a 2 MOA Aimpoint tube.
