I went to my pusher and was picking up a 6" blued Ruger GP100, with a light barrel when I looked at the used gun rack and they had a descent looking 9422. It had some rust spots, barrel looked ok. I picked it up for $250. I already have a Marlin 39A and 39M, so I am familiar with lever action .22s. I will be interested to see if it shoots decently. Serial number indicates 1972 production. No photos yet.

I believe '72 would be a 1st year production rifle.
Did you shoot it yet?

I managed to get out Friday just before we got another foot of snow. I got a preliminary sight setting with the Williams Foolproof rear clamped to the tip off grooves. Function was 100%, trigger wasn't bad. Worked fine. I didn't get to shoot at paper. I will try to do that as soon as I can. I am watching grandchildren this weekend and may not make it to the range. It feels a little different than my 39A and 39M, but ok. I will now look for a 9422 in .22 mag to go with it.

The East coast is getting a lot of snow. We have a couple of feet at my house in Southern Maryland with somewhere between 12" to 20" due tonight. I may not make it back to the range before the end of the coming ice age.

I had my eye on one at our local sporting goods store in Alameda, Ca in 1973. My dad bought it from Chris the manager for my 13th birthday. It doesn't look like it did when it was brand new but then neither do I. From day first it was a nail driver and to this day very, very accurate. I'm sure your 9422 is in the same condition. By the way, I have shot thousands of rounds through it as well as countless gray squirrels and other critters. Will die owning it!

I have days that I can't do that with my 52B target gun.......

Should maybe be the last rimfire that you consider selling.

YMMV.

Enjoy!
