I like the Primos reeds myself, with Berry's a close second.

I like the Larry Jones reeds.
If there is any proof of a man in a hunt it is not whether he killed a deer or elk but how he hunted it.

A guy should only use the best that's out there, which is that? It's the one that works for you! (grin) Brand is only important to the user, if the user is unhappy with present reeds then yes he should continue looking.
I would like to add that with newer users of the mouth reed/diaphragm or with guys who are turkey callers trying to get into elk calling that one should start with a very lightly stretched single latex reeds, anything that's stiffer or tightly stretched will pose issues & make practicing frustrating instead of enjoyable. It's only enjoyable if one sees fairly quick results in his attempts, this will promote enthusiasm to continue on.
I personally use the Mellow Yellow & Hot Coaxer for cow sounds of all types & the Scream N Tormentor & Super Blue Double for Bull sounds & selective cow sounds. This works well for me!

HS Bugling 2.5 was a good tone for me years ago, now Carlton's 2.5 for most bugling.
It seems a good idea to me to have several, reeds that you can sound out a good calf and cow chirp are perhaps just as important.
Over calling is maybe the biggest 'no-no' , but it sure seems to work up a bulls curiosity when you mix in a couple cow responses to a bugle, or set up your bugle with some good cow talk.
09 was a fantastic season for me, got a few bulls to respond during the Colorado archery season. Nothing down, but a true season to remember!

I have tried most of them and it seemed I could get the best sounds out of my mouth with Carltons. After the loss of a front tooth a few years back,I am a Power Bugle guy now, because I can't get anything realistic with reeds anymore.
The way the wolf thing is here anymore,i feel guilty even bugling.Makes a good wolf call, though!
