Looking to see if anyone is using the Nosler or Norma brass for their 260 Rem or 260AI and wondering what you thought of it? I recently picked up a bag of Remington cases and the number of cases with off centered primer pocket holes was ridiculous. Thanks for your feedback.

Re-sizing 243 Lapua brass? Are you getting any "donuts" inside the neck?

I've made over 2K cases for my 260s by necking up Winchester/Olin 243 brass. A little Imperial Wax on the case and inside the neck, run 'em through a full length 260 resizing die, trim 'em to length, deburr the primer holes, throw 'em in a bucket of hot soapy water to get all the lubricant off, rinse 'em in hot water, dry 'em, weight 'em, and use 'em.

Ever rifle that I reload for starts off with 100 new cases and I'll use those cases until they start to fail. When they do start to fail, usually after 6 to 10 uses, I'll scrap the lot and start over with a new set of 100. Probably a waste of some good brass and maybe a use or 2, but I do it 'cause it has worked repeatedly for me.

Nope, I use 308 and neck turn to clean them up after a chamber cast to confirm dimensions. With the gentle shoulder angle you could do them in one pass, but I've got a 7-08 die on hand, so I use that first.

Jeff, Are you following the same procedure for 260AI cases?

Ted, I'm wondering if you read the same "260 Ackley Case Forming" article on AccurateShooter.com mentioning a donut formation I did? Fellas doing neck reaming, etc. and finally succumbed to just using Rem brass.

I've never done a 260AI, couldn't see that the juice was worth the squeeze.

I did read that article, which was the reason for my question. I have a 260AI in process and have been thinking about what I'm going to do for brass. Midway has the Nosler brass on sale and I may try that. I've been shooting the Nosler brass in my 280AI and have been happy with it. I've heard others complain about some of the other calibers in the Nosler brass being on the soft side. Based on the recent bag of Rem brass that I picked up, I may have to sort through 200 cases to get a 100 good ones. For the price of 200 Rem cases I could get 100 Nosler or Norma cases. It sure would be nice if Lapua would decide to make the 260 Rem cases. Thanks for the feedback.

I bought two lots of Nosler 260 brass and it is all useless. Nosler won't stand behind it so I am stuck with it. The necks are so thin that I can't resize them with a full-length reloading die! I shoot them once and chuck them now. I mostly use Lapua 243 brass. Groups are 40% better than with Remington brass. Sure wish Lapua would just make 260 brass.

Dennisinaz, Are you shooting a 260 Rem or a 260 AI? What sizing die are you using?

I use WW7-08 brass. Run it through a FL sizer then over a Sinclair expander mandrel & load.

silver state armory is going to be making 260 brass in the next two months and it is better than norma in the 308 win and rws is the only 308 win that can compair and ssa is cheaper than lupua so if you can wait a bit you might try ssa i have 308 on its 9th shot with 168 gn bergers with 46gns of varget at 2760fps and primer still seat tight and cases show no signs stress it is really good stuff.

FredIII, Thanks for the tip. I'll look them up and that could be an option. My rifle is a few months from being completed so I can wait. I'm sure there will be other shooters here who will want to try it also.

The Nosler brass is for a .294 neck .260 Remington. I can load the rounds as they come "ready to load" but I tried sizing them with Redding, RCBS and now Forster dies. I called Forster and the first words were " is it that %&%@# Nosler brass?" I can size it with a bushing die but don't bother.

Who carries SSA brass? That RWS 308 is the best I have ever tried!

I wonder if SSA will divulge their neck thickness uniformity acceptance specification. The last thing I want to do is pay for premium brass and find a bunch of .002" and up wall variations like I did with the "premium" Nosler 308 stuff I got.

Norma is good brass, but If I was you Id run some Lapua 308 brass through my 260 die and call it good.

I would buy remington or winchester brass before i bought the Nosler stuff.

Not surprised if more 'quality brass and ammo' come out for the 260, the LR crowd shooting tac style comp are lining up to rebarrel or trade in their 308s, it's that much less MOA/Clicks at LR, up to 1,000 yds.....Remington and others might start taking notice at what the 'boys in the know' are using....

Any chance of "pressuring" Lapua into running some 260 brass? In Aus 260 brass is hard to come by, Rem is about $50/50, and Norma was over $300 per 100! Was also quoted over $60 per box (20) Rem factory loads!
Might have to try necking up 243 Lapua.
I have also had problems with Nosler brass in 270 - blamed the die but works with other brands, just too thin I think.
