hi.i am new to the forum and i am wondering why savage didnt put serial numbers on some of their rifles. i own a few from 22's to 30-06's that dont. they are savage and stevens. my first gun was a 30-30 when i was 10 years old and now my youngest son who is ten hunts with it. i wouldn't use anything else. i am now trying to convince my brother in law to sell me his 250. it's not looking good!!

Serial numbers were optional before 1968

Some of the 22's weren't serialed but that 30-06 should be, even the model 40's had serial numbers.

So what is it?

A model 40 or a 110?

it is a 110. the ones with no numbers are 22's, 30-30's, 222's, and a 12ga shotgun.

Hey I was talking to a guy named Gino the other day that worked at the Savage plant around the same time you did, forgot to ask if he knew you though.

hi savparts. is there any way to tell roughly what year these guns are, or were certain models only produced in certain years?

You can look for a date code on them, it's a small oval stamp with a number followed by a letter inside it.

Mad Dog long time, but I have a few moments to spend on a QUALITY place. I can not saw I know of the guy, but if he was in the factory, most likely not, since I worked in the service area.
If no serial number is on the 340-325-840 then the Inspector mark is needed to get a time line on it. or the Proof Mark on the barrel.
The 325 was made from 1947 to 1949 the 340 started in 1975 with serial number B754087. It died in 1988. In 1989 what ever was left over from 1988 was sold
