I found a good deal on one...$275. with a scope... Are they any good ?? Are they accurate??? Or is it just a cheaply made bolt gun ?? Any help would be helpfull.. Joe

Depends on the version and how old it is. Does it have an accutrigger?In all likelihood it is a very good deal, and even if it needs a little work, you can do that and still be ahead.

Is there an "area of larger diameter" near the rear sight? This would indicate an older model that cannot have the barrel changed as easier as newer ones.

This would also make the "deal" quotient on the edge of "OK". But still an accurate rifle and its hard to wear out a 30-06.

What kind of scope?

Is the back of the receiver flat or rounded?

Single shot (rare), blind mag, or detachable mag?

as PRM asked, does it have an accutrigger? If so, do you know if its staggered feed, centerfeed, and does it have the newer accustock? That would make it a better deal!

No accure trigger, I have only seen a picture of it so far.. The scope looks like a simmons 44 mag... I figured It was too good a deal to pass up.. It cost about the same as buying a barrel for my encore..

A good friend of mine bought one a few years ago from his Uncle (30-06/synthetic stock). I made sure it was truly free-floated and adjusted the trigger (easy to do on a Savage) and worked up a handload. I worked up a handload in a short time that would regularly put three shots within .5-.75" at 100 yards. I have a M110 in 243 that will shoot darn near any load you make up with 70-100gr bullets into tight groups. For $275 I'd say it's a deal if in great condition even if the scope wasn't involved. I would question the quality of the scope though for the low price for the package but the rifle itself I wouldn't worry about. I've shot or seen show Savage M110s in 223, 243 (2), 270, 30-06 (3), 7mm RM, and 300 WM (I may be forgetting a few) and I've never seen an inaccurate one nor have heard/seen any problems with one.
