I traded for a 336 in .35 Rem., but the goober I got it from had installed a sling swivel THROUGH the Bullseye on the buttstock. Are replacements available?

I bought one from Gun Parts Corp a few years ago. It was over length with ends square to the body. This was good as no two rifles would be alike. It was a tight fit in the hole and easy to work.

I had one fall out of my 336. I called the factory and they sent one right out to me, took about a week to get here. You have to do a little shaping to get it to fit right, but it was easy.

The 1894 44mag I have had a sling swivel installed in the bullseye also. The factory sent me one but I haven't installed it yet as I don't know what to use to "glue" in in with.
Any suggestions?
What did you use WesternWa?

I roughed the sides with sandpaper and used Elmers Wood glue. The brown stuff, not the white. I wish I had thought to call Marlin. Could have saved my self two or three dollars!

Elkslayer, I just used a little Loctite 454 on it, worked fine. Haven't had a problem with it.

It's not uncommon, a lot of new marlin owners think that's what the bullseye is for. I've seen quite a number of them used as such over the years. I think it was a FAQ on the old Marlin site. I suppose it does seem strange if you're used to the other rifles.

Well then, what is it for? Does it have a specific purpose other than decoration? Rojelio

Nope it's just a decoration and a Marlin trademark. Marlins just don't look right to me with out the bullseye.

Not sure of the date it is in Col. Bophey's book. The story is that John Marlin walked into a gun shop and had trouble spotting the Marlins amoung the Winchesters as they stood in the rack. The bullseye makes it easy to spot the Marlins.
