I have plenty of experience with AUS-8 but have never used a knife made with AUS-10. Please tell me what you think of this steel. I've used just about every other knife steel there is so comparisons are welcome.
Thanks, RS

Same here, tested a lot of -8 , but not the -10 , but from the hip I would not think that there would be a real lot of difference with just a couple more points of carbon?

Just for a think? If you have ever used blades out of 440B and 440C , your going to have a real good idea.

All AUS-8 and AUS-10 really are is 440B and 440C with a frog-hair of vanadium in it, and a little nickle to take the place of a little less chromium.

My guess, again from the hip, depending on the heat-treat, the -10 should out cut he -8 by a very slight margin, and be just slightly harder to sharpen in the field.

And again, depending on the heat-treat, be slightly easier to chip if meet with a boo-boo?

Both -8 and -10 might have a slightly better ware resistance, and slightly more brittle them 440B & C .

No experience with Aus-10. My kitchen knife set is Aus-8. It works well. I have a nice little Spyderco Moran drop point hunter with a VG-10 blade. That is a great blade. Easy to sharpen. Fine edge (small carbides). Holds an edge well. It is similar to Aus-10. Both have ~1.0% carbon. It is likley that Aus10 and VG-10 are close enough to be similar (both very good).

I just can't recall seeing a knife offered in aus-10.
