I just picked up my 2,010 Remington Firearms, Ammunition and Accessories Catalog today. The "OFFICIAL" Classic caliber for 2,010 is the 280 Remington and NOT the 222 Remington Magnum I had been wishing for! Oh well! The 280 Remington is a fantastic cartridge and I have owned a Rifle in this caliber for quite some time now. I have used it successfully to Hunt Elk, Mule Deer, Antelope, Blacktailed Deer, Mt. Goat, Whitetailed Deer and Black Bear. It appears that the 280 Remington Classic caliber will be offered in the 24" barrel length. Hmmm... on that. My 280 Remington has a 25" barrel and I would even enjoy the "Classic" coming with a 26" barrel! Best of luck to the folks at Big Green with this offering/caliber - its a good one. But I am already hoping/lobbying for the 222 Remington Magnum next year. Hold into the wind VarmintGuy

I used to get all excited to see the next years new rifles and cartridges....now I dont care.
Mostly because with the exception of the Rem 700 TI, if I want it they wont build it...so I will have to.

I was all hot over the classics several years ago. Now they just feel heavy and bulky. Age seems to do that to me.
I think I'll put my classics on the board one of these days.

Just got rid of a Classic in 8mm Mauser. Like the cartridge, didn't much care for the rifle.

I had a classic in 35 whelen, that went down the road.
The new ones are a little better, but not enough to get me to buy one.

I used to get excited about such things but now I mainly use what I have now in my battery. For future rifles, will have them custom built by really good makers.
The 264 Win Mag in a model 70 gets the job done anyways for almost everything in north america and most certainly almost all plains game in Africa, including kudu, sable and roan.

TurdLikePersonHawkI: What makes you so sure they won't make the Classic offering in 222 Remington Magnum. They have offered the Classic in several other calibers in the 222 family including: 222 Remington 223 Remington 221 Remington Fireball 17 Remington I know this to be true because I own some of each of these Rifles - and I would sure like to have another in caliber 222 Remington Magnum! Theres always hope - isn't there? Hold into the wind VarmintGuy

Ton264: I have a number of full custom Rifles and I am well aware of the SIGNIFICANT costs involved in bringing them online! I have chosen of recent to go EXACTLY the opposite direction as you - I look exclusively now for factory offerings! I have as yet to be disappointed and I save a "TON" of money with this policy!
