Wellll, when Gander Mtn. has this type on thing on the used rack for $400, what's a guy to do? Some of you know I've been deciding between CDL/Mountain Rifle and 7mm-08, or .260. Well, For some reason this Model 700 Classic in 7mm-08 was just sitting there on this rack that I hadn't noticed before (must be fate). Came with a Simmons 4X32 that I can use until I get enough scratch for a Leupy. Seems in good repair, smooth action, decent stock. I'm happy Thought y'all might like some pics. I'm proud to show 'er off, so here ya go!

You did real well for an all around great rifle. If givin good care, your Remington Classic rifle will apreciate in value.
Now all you need is to save up for that Loupie and start handloading, if you havn't yet.
Congrats on a great first rifle!

You didn't get hurt at all for $400 on that rifle. You did good on you first rifle, good taste. Now you just have to decide what caliber to look for in your next 700 classic.

Ya done good! I look at that pic and see joy for several lifetimes!! look in the forum classys and/or call Rick about the Luepy. Plenty of good ones there all the time. Get a used one!

Only thing I'd do is get the trigger adjusted -- which is easy. You'll be glad you did, I promise.

I love the looks of a 700 Classic. Nice buy, you will enjoy it, a very capable, good shooting round I suspect.

You have a great rifle and cartridge that will handle it all. Don't let anyone tell you that you can't hunt elk, moose and bears with it. It is a fabulous round. Flinch

Seems like everyone here agrees, including me -- you did well!

Stuffed with RL19 and 160g bullets the 7mm-08 is only a quarter-step behind the 7mm Mag load I've used successfully for 20+ years. Good looking rifle, too!

Thanks everyone,

I didn't get her sighted in in time for the deer hunt this past weekend, so I took the 870. My gf's uncle took me out on his property, which was very nice of him. He told me I could shoot either a doe or a buck "in this zone", but I knew he was wrong. I could only take a buck. I had been making sure of what my tags permitted me to do for weeks. So, instead of hunting two days with him, I decided that skipping the second day of hunting and catching up on much needed sleep was the thing to do. Not sure how I would have handled that one, my gf's uncle who is a doing me a favor... me wanting to make a good impression... and him telling me I can shoot a doe... if there was a situation where I had a clear shot at a doe and he was right there wondering why I wasn't pulling the trigger, it would have been awkward. I decided avoiding the situation best for the time being. Next year I'll have my hunter's choice permit though, so that I truly can take either. P.S. I'll try to get to the range soon to report on the groups with the 7mm-08!
