I'd try the Wind River Yosemites. I've had at least 4 pair of the Nikon Actions, and have NOT been impressed with their ruggedness. The last two pair especially, they got out of colimnation in short order, in spite of very light and infrequent use.

If you like the Nikon's go with the Action Extreme's as they are waterproof. I bought one of my son's the AE 7x35 about 3 or 4 years ago and they have great glass for under $100, and have survived a teenagers room with no problems.

We like the ones I got my wife for casual birding. No problems.

I've had a pair of 7x35 Actions (not Extremes) for over a decade (back when they were called Naturalists, their third iteration--the Actions are the fifth update).

They have proven very durable, as I've carried them hunting a lot and now on the floor of the truck for a few years. They've never fogged internally and never gone out of alignment.

I've got some Action 10x50s. The glass is pretty good for a $90 bin, and it's comfortable to hold, although heavy. However, the individual eyepiece adjustment is very loose(I have to adjust it every 20 minutes of use or so), and after 2 years of hard abuse they started fogging. Fotunately, the warranty covers that...

Another Leupold Yosemite convert. Seem to be better glass and a much better warranty. My son bought the Nikon AE and I get whiplash when we go out scouting together, he is always grabbing my Bino's with the strap still around my neck.

The Nikon Actions are good binoculars in the lower priced porro class.
Some here are recommending some others, it may depend on what size are you
looking for? These are available from 7x - 16x.

Love my 8X Yosemites for deer hunting, but they ain't 10x50s.

Picked up a pair of new Nikon Action 10x50s for $55 (no case, strap or box, etc) and so far, like them very much. They are a tad heavier than I wanted for a pair of varmint glasses, but this summer will better tell how that works out.

Found a decent padded nylon zipper bino case for $10 at Gander Mtn. so now have a case fer 'em.

reddne,

For my money it is extremely difficult to beat the Action 7-15X35. I own two pair; except my son-in-law liked mine so much he "borrowed" them so that's why I "own" two of them. The glass is clear enough to crank up the magnification to verify what you might not make out with the limited lower mag binos. Very handy feature. Just like a scope, you leave them on the lowest power until you need more; simple.

But the quality may have slipped since I purchased mine.
