I really like the Anschutz rimfires with the 54 action - except for the flag type safety.

I believe that Anschutz revealed a new model, in 0.22 calibre, at the Shot 2009 show with a side safety lever.

My question: does anyone know whether the .17 cal, 1717 with the 54 action, will be similarly revised and are there any other changes ?

The Anschutz website does not give any info'.

I put up with that darn saftey for one reason: my 54 sporter is an absolute shooter (and looks sexy too <grin>. It is one of my favorite rifles, but the saftey is a PITA especially on a scoped rifle. It is a squirrel killing machine!

I was under the impression from the talk on RFC that the 17 HMII would not be chambered, but the HMR may. Not sure of the 22mag.
