I don't have a picture so I'll try to describe it. At the rear of the action there is a single transverse screw that goes into a round slotted nut on the other side of the action. I need the round slotted nut for a 99 in the 398XXX serial # range. Does anyone have one for sale? Thanks.

Numrich purchased a large number of parts several years ago. They may have your part and I think they have scematics. http://www.gunpartscorp.com/catalog/Products.aspx?catid=4579

I think he is describing the sear screw and nut sine he said slotted nut. Numrich has both types for sale.

Thanks for the help. Looks like part #32 on the Gun Parts Ltd (Numrich) schematic #144340A sear screw nut. I got two ordered.(always have a spare) They don't do layaway (GRIN)

I picked up a pre-war take down 99F in .303 about 12 years ago that was missing the same nut and ordered a replacement from Gun Parts. You may have to do a little fitting as the slotted screw I got was a bit thicker (in depth not diameter) than the slot into which it it fit on my rifle. I carefully sanded down the back side of the screw with wet-dry paper until it was the correct thickness. I've noticed some variability in the thickness of receivers with the 99s in my collection. This may account for the fitting I had to do with the Gun Parts screw and you may encounter the same situation. Regardless, it was an easy fix.
